21: freedom
nobody actually wants freedom. if you think you do you're probably lying to yourself.
even your typical manosphere guru "alpha male" worships at the altar of andrew tate or andrew huberman or some twisted misinterpretation of God.
in 1941 psychoanalyst erich fromm observed that fascism and the horrors of wwii happened because the common man was unprepared for the freedom of modernity. with the death of religion and growing individualism, the masses needed direction - and authoritarian figures were the first to offer it.
sound familiar? people are surprised that, SOMEHOW, IN 2026, right wing populists and christian fundamentalism are making a comeback... but it's obvious why. the youth of today - young men in particular - have no direction, no leadership, no purpose.
but they're not the only ones. if you think you're exempt from this, think again. everyone wants to be told what to do. we all worship something... the only real freedom that exists is the freedom to choose what we worship. most people never do.
